Willow Spring, North Carolina
After retiring to Florida, we planned a 3-week sightseeing trip to Arizona with many visits planned along the way. Our bags were packed when Katrina barreled into Mississippi and Louisiana, wiping out routes 10 and 12 and blocking our way. We cancelled the trip, but what should we do with the time and vacation money? …We could go to North Carolina. We’d driven Rt. 95 countless times but saw little of the state. If it appealed to us, we thought, we might consider buying or renting a small summer place there one day. So we headed north and took an exit off of 95. Eight days later, against all rational thinking, we bought a house in a place we’d never heard of…a place that was barely a pinpoint on our map. After 40 years of moving around, we finally felt at home. If it were possible to measure our spiritual growth in the past 3 years, we could conclude that Willow Springs wasn’t totally OUR choice. -Dorothy & Gary Levesque Willow Spring, NC
Our journey to North Carolina began in Orlando where after some health issues the doctors found a tumor in my brain. After surgery and recovery time, my wife and I agreed that I needed to change jobs. My brother-in-law worked for a company seeking someone with my qualifications. I started my own shop in Memphis, TN with the company, but we ultimately decided that Memphis wasn’t the best place to raise our family. My boss from NC, suggested we move to Raleigh and that I should become his operations manager. What brought my family and I to Fellowship Baptist was the genuine grace of God. One evening our neighbors, Brian and Kim Causer, invited us to attend FBC’s Refuge Coffee House. We’ve been hooked ever since. God, the pastors of FBC, and the people who attend have blessed us more than you know…
